Why Paintball Has A Better Public Profile Than Airsoft

Abbey Supply started as a firearms company, manufacturing quality lubricants and cleaning supplies for shotguns, rifles and airguns in the UK. As we progressed, we found more and more ‘airsofters’ buying our products and (with a little bit of research into the sport and community) the business has grown to where airsoft is a major part of our business model.

With this in mind, you might think it’s bizarre for us to claim ‘paintball is better than airsoft’, and most of you will probably whole heartedly disagree with our claim.

What is Joule Creep?

Joule creep is a phenomenon that happens in airsoft that effects how ‘powerful’ your airsoft gun is. It’s a dangerous thing that can leave your airsoft gun being too powerful to use, or even illegal under the latest UK Law.

In a recent article we describe how measuring a gun’s FPS alone is not an accurate depiction of the gun’s FPS when actually used and Joule Creep is simply another aspect of how issues can arise without proper knowledge and correct testing.

What is an R-Hop?

The hop up in your airsoft gun is one of the most important parts when it comes to accuracy and range. In simplified terms, it applies backspin to your BB and causes ‘lift’ to carry your BB further.

However, the traditional airsoft hop-up is not the absolute best way to impart that back spin onto a BB and multiple different methods have been developed to try and produce better results.

Different hop-up types include Flat Nubs, H Buckings, M Nubs etc however, very few of them produce results as reliable and as impressive as the renowned ‘R-Hop’.
