Investment in high quality, powerful and accurate guns complete with relevant attachments and pre-establishing roles for each member of the team are just three methods which any team can use to increase their effectiveness in the field.
However, employing sophisticated, well-coordinated tactics can really help you gain the upper hand over your opposition and this is especially true for high level teams.
We’ve created this blog to give you a brief overview of some great tactics which you can use to bolster your team’s proficiency and help win your next game.
Flanking is a simple manoeuvre which has been used extensively in real world military combat throughout history.
Essentially, flanking involves the use of a primary unit to engage the enemy from the front whilst an auxiliary team moves in from the side to both surprise the enemy and overwhelm them.
This tactic works excellently both in large outdoor environments and in tight-knit indoor game areas and is a great way to assault an enemy whilst they are maintaining a defensive location.
This manoeuvre can also be utilised to help small teams overpower a larger enemy unit, as the use of a multidirectional attack will help leverage the game area in your favour despite having a lower player count.
Smoke Grenades for Additional Cover
Smoke grenades don’t just add authenticity to the battlefield, they also serve as an excellent tool to provide additional, dynamic cover to you and your team.
These grenades are ideal for use when out in the open or in other situations where fixed cover is sparse. They will also help by inducing uncertainty in the opposition as enemy players will be forced to change their tactics in order to prepare for attacks from directions they had not previously planned for.
Supress the Enemy Team with Covering Fire
Using a support gunner or similarly equipped member of your team to lay down continuous suppression fire on your enemy will help to keep the opposition pinned down whilst other players in your squad advance through the battlefield.
Using two or more players for this tactic will be doubly beneficial as they can take turns firing at the enemy whilst the other reloads their weapon or adjust their equipment.
This can work perfectly in conjunction with the aforementioned flanking manoeuvre as this will give other players on your team the opportunity to move in from the side whilst the enemy is distracted.
Whilst many airsoft games require calm and methodical thinking from team mates, irregular tactics such as guerrilla combat can also be used to help you claim victory through clever planning.
Guerrilla combat involves teams dividing into multiple squads to launch small, regular attacks on enemies who are typically organised into larger groups.
This type of combat will allow you to take the enemy by surprise by rushing them and withdrawing from the area once you have finished the attack.
As this diverts from the usual tactics employed on the battlefield, enemy players will find it hard to cope with your new strategy and they may even be forced to change their position within the game area.
An initially more stealth-focused tactic, ambushing the enemy requires your team to lay low in a strategic position whilst your enemy begins to traverse the battlefield.
Once your targets have reached an appropriate location, friendly players will then ‘ambush’ the enemy team which will catch them off guard and make them less effective, especially at the start of the battle.
This tactic can be employed in any environment which features cover or foliage as players will need to hide from the opposition whilst still being able to spy on their location,
Having scouts on your team will be beneficial for this tactic as they will be able to pin point enemy locations whilst your team either watch over another area or deal with other important aspects of the game.
If performed correctly, these tactics can really help extend the effectiveness of both your squad and your entire team as a whole, and can help high level teams to increase their chances of winning over a similarly competent opposition.
